Anime characteristics

In anime, character design can vary in certain ways depending on the era or the cartoonists. It should be noted that in anime they are usually influenced by more than one type of brush style rather than pencil calligraphy. Some visible features are:

• The eyes: commonly they are very large, oval, very defined and with striking colors such as red, pink, green, purple, apart from the normal ones such as brown and blue. Osamu Tezuka is often named as the one who introduced the big eyes, since he noticed the Disney technique of big eyes to give more personality and facial expressions to Mickey Mouse and other characters. Tezuka used this technique first with Astroboy, keeping the other characters with small eyes. In animated productions large eyes are used to accentuate personality; But not in all animation productions there are big eyes like in Hayao Miyazaki’s films.
• Hair: there are all shapes, sizes and volumes, for male or female characters. In addition to a wide variety of colors such as those of the eyes, these can have different forms of shading.
• The body: it can be very similar to the proportions of the human body, although in a very sculptural way as in the moé. By keeping the proportions of the human body, the characters are inevitably too big and tall, because that is never fully seen within a scene, it is always a ratio of ¼, in half, or slide a scene to show the whole character.
• The face: the nose and mouth are small, the lower part of the face appears to be that of a pentagon. A wide variety of facial expressions are used by characters to denote moods and thoughts. The anime uses a different set of facial expressions compared to Western animation.

Characteristics in the plot of the anime:

-Romanticism: It takes elements of fantasy and the supernatural. The relationships that the characters have, such as friends or family, are also taken into account. Most of the anime series can have some emotional and ideological overtones. Pictures can create a suitable background for transferring your emotional thoughts.

-Realism: Although fantasy is more predominant over real events, some series have been influenced by the realism movement, literary works have even been adapted to anime. The stories told through this medium can be produced by combining various cinematographic genres, as such there are a lot of themes, they can describe historical events.

This narrative genre is a mixture mainly of Japanese and Western cultures. From the western genre he rescues some character archetypes, presentation in chapters of the same length and animation techniques, among other things. To this he adds traditional Japanese concepts such as an emphasis on everyday life and the modernized traditional Japanese drawing style. In addition, other types of mythologies can be presented, such as Greek, Chinese, Scandinavian
